We have been taking part in the Science Festival for several years. This year, our activities included lessons for primary- and high school students. The meetings took place on the 23rd and 26th of September 2024.

A lesson and laboratories referring to Smart polymer materials for medicine and their sustainable development was led by: PhD Dorota Kołbuk, MSc Angelika Zaszczyńska, MSc Maryla Moczulska-Heljak and MSc Oliwia Jeznach. The attendees have the opportunity to learn about electrospun fibers, injectable hydrogels, 3D printed constructs, and piezoelectric materials that are currently studied in tissue engineering together with a focus on the implementation of artificial intelligence and sustainable development into this research.

Lesson entitled: "Regenerative medicine: biology, chemistry, engineering" was conducted by PhD, DSc Tomasz Kowalczyk. The meeting referred to synthetic nanofibers and their applications in medicine. It included a short popular-science introduction and a laboratory demonstration.

We also held a lecture with an accompanying laboratory entitled: "The invisible world: looking through the scanning electron microscope". During the lecture, the possibilities of scanning electron microscopy in comparison to light microscopy were presented. The laboratory consisted of a closer look at the electrospinning process and polymer fibers as well as looking at some small organisms and cells cultured on nanofibers. The meeting was prepared by MSc Judyta Dulnik, MSc Olga Cegielska, MSc Piotr Denis, and Professor Paweł Sajkiewicz.

Our lectures and laboratory demonstrations attracted a lot of attention. Below you can find the pictures from this year's Science Festival edition. We cordially invite you to the next meeting next year!
