The Scientific Council of the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences (IPPT PAN), has awarded Judyta Dulnik the doctoral degree in Engineering and Technical Sciences, in the discipline of Materials Engineering, with distinction.
Her doctoral dissertation focused on biodegradable bicomponent polymer materials produced by electrospinning and designed for tissue engineering applications. The research explored how solvent selection, crosslinking processes, and surface functionalization affect material structure, properties, and cellular response.
One of the key achievements was the development of an alternative, less toxic solvent system that can replace commonly used fluorinated alcohols in electrospinning. The research also enabled the optimization of stabilization methods for protein-based fibrous mats and their surface modification, enhancing the potential of these materials as cell scaffolds for regenerative medicine.
The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Paweł Sajkiewicz and Dorota Kołbuk-Konieczny, IPPT PAN Professor, as assistant supervisor.
